Added voice of opposition to the HPV vaccine mandate

The Catholic Medical Association has added its voice of opposition to the HPV vaccine mandate issued by Texas Governor Rick Perry, joining the Texas Medical Association and the American Academy of Pediatrics.

“The Catholic Medical Association opposes mandating the use of HPV vaccine, as well as direct or indirect efforts to pressure parents or minors to accept it.”

The CMA calls for “Informed consent, including disclosure of benefits, risks, and alternatives, understanding, and voluntariness.”

“Parents have the primary authority and responsibility to raise their children and to approve medical treatments for them.”
