“Militant Christians” As Dangerous As Islamic Terrorists
Congresswoman Sheila Jackson-Lee (D-TX) certainly was over the top in comparing to Islamic terrorists those who oppose Roe v. Wade, such as these participants in a 40 Days for Life prayer vigil. Testifying at a recent U.S. House Homeland Security Committee hearing was Patrick Dunleavy, the former Deputy Inspector of the New York Criminal Intelligence Unit, who was discussing the Islamic radicalization which occurs in U.S. prisons. The Congresswoman questioned him pointedly about those who don’t agree with the Roe v. Wade decision. To see the comparison Rep. Jackson-Lee makes, click here.
Following this outrageous statement, dozens of pro-lifers, including a number of African-American church leaders, held a news conference in her home district to protest the Congresswoman’s comments.
Would You Like Free Plastic Surgery with that Abortion?
In a totally crass attempt to lure more women into their abortuary, some Miami, FL abortionists are offering “free plastic surgery with your abortion,” according to pro-life organization Heartbeat International. With plans to open a third clinic in Miami, the group reports that the abortion industry there also financially gouges their patients, many of whom are newly-immigrated women from Cuba and South America. With a “come-on price” of only $120 for abortions up to 24 weeks, women are offered a payment plan with an interest rate that brings the total cost far above that “bargain” rate. When Heartbeat opened its first clinic less than four years ago, there were no ultra-sound equipped pregnancy help centers in Miami, but there were 37 abortion clinics in operation. Now Heartbeat plans to open its third clinic in the Little Havana district of Miami.
Partial-Birth Abortions Finally Banned in Ohio
Ohio’s Republican Gov. John Kasich has signed legislation banning late-term abortions (except when the woman’s life is endangered) in the Buckeye State. Prior to the bill’s passage, women could abort their babies up to and through the ninth month of their pregnancies — literally up until the moment of birth.
According to LifeSite News, the Late-Term Abortion Ban requires physicians to test the viability of an unborn child if the mother were seeking an abortion at 20 weeks or later into her pregnancy. If the child is found to be able to live outside the mother’s womb, the abortion cannot be performed, except in circumstances where the pregnancy is a threat to the mother’s health. The measure also contains language making it clear a mental health exception can’t be used to get around the ban, especially since a substantial amount of research shows abortions pose mental health risks for women.
Ohio is home to one of the main promoters of the partial-birth abortion method (which 38 states and Congress have banned) and this abortionist continues to abort late-term pregnancies at his Cincinnati-area facility. The new law will take effect in 90 days and is expected to save up to 700 babies annually.
This victory marks one of the first major efforts to limit late-term abortions in Ohio since a 1997 decision by the 6th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals struck down the state’s previous ban.
