Komen-Supporting Bible Sales Discontinued by LifeWay
LifeWay Christian Resources found itself in hot water recently after publishing a special pink Bible whose sales through major retailers such as Walmart benefited the Susan G. Komen Foundation. As E-Notes readers know, some Komen chapters have donated funds to Planned Parenthood, America’s largest chain of abortion mills. But LifeWay leadership has now pulled those Bibles from the marketplace. Read more here.
American actor Christian Bale, who portrayed Batman in an action hero movie, was recently attacked by Chinese soldiers. Bale was on his way to visit Chen Guangcheng, the brave Chinese activist who exposed the systematic use of forced abortion and sterilization in Linyi City in 2005. For four years and three months, Guangcheng was jailed, tortured and denied medical treatment. Recently released, he has nonetheless been under strict house arrest and Bale was trying to visit him in appreciation for his courage. See the video and read the CNN report here.
Most of us expect table talk at our various holiday meals to include family and friends rejoicing in the fellowship, counting their blessings, anticipating the gift exchanges, catching up on relatives’ news, etc. It’s almost beyond belief that Planned Parenthood suggests abortion as a table talk topic! Yet in an article entitled “Talking Turkey: 8 Easy Steps for Discussing Reproductive Health and Justice at the Holiday Table,” , the world’s largest aboration provider even includes a quiz to help pro-aborts prepare for “touchy questions about your politics over the dinner table.” While the article was originally posted prior to the Thanksgiving holiday, PP advocates will undoubtedly have no problem in bringing the topic up around the Christmas season as well. More details are provided here.
During its recent legislative session, Texas denied millions of tax dollars to Planned Parenthood and its affiliates while continuing to fund hundreds of other Women’s health care providers through Medicaid dollars. But a recent letter to the Texas Health and Human Services agency, the federal agency which administers Medicaid, is threatening to deny Medicaid funding to the Lone Star state. Joe Pojman, head of the Texas Alliance for Life says, “By threatening to cancel the Women’s Health Program in Texas, the Obama Administration is showing it would sooner deny tens of millions of dollars of medical services to low-income women rather than allow the State of Texas to cut off tax funding to Planned Parenthood.” Read the letter here.
One would think that no clear-thinking person, let alone so called “religious” groups, would favor allowing abortions based solely on race or gender of the pre-born baby. Yet the Religious Coalition for Reproductive Choice and the more than three dozen religious organizations it lists as member on its website are opposing a bill that does just that. Several denominations such as Episcopal, Presbyterian Church USA and United Methodist are listed. Is your church a part of this group? You can check on their website which claims that the group is pro-faith, pro-family and pro-choice. Yet they are adamantly opposing HR. 3541, known as PRENDA (Prenatal Nondiscrimination Act) which was introduced recently by Congressman Trent Franks (R-AZ) to ensure that these types of abortions which are common in nations such as China and India will not be legal in the U.S.A.
We are nearing the holiest night of the year, that holy night when our Lord was born in Bethlehem more than 2,000 years ago. As we celebrate that epitome of an “unplanned pregnancy,” let us remember the unplanned babies that will never hear a Christmas carol or the story of the Star in the East that brought the three kings or have a special Christmas gift. Let us give thanks to God for sending His Son with His good news to men of good will. If you would like to hear an original pro-life song written and sung by country music legend Larry Gatlin, go here. Indeed, we are so grateful that Mary loved her unborn child.
We wish you and your loved ones a very blessed Christmas from the Republican National Coalition for Life. Let us all pledge to re-double our efforts for Life in the coming year.
