Planned Parenthood Is Wealthy In Its Own Right, Doesn’t Need Or Deserve Tax Money, Yet Is Moving Aggressively To Protect Its Federal Funding
Although it has nearly one billion dollars in net assets, Planned Parenthood is obviously in panic mode as it scrambles to protect its $363 million in government grants. This very healthy balance sheet would indicate that Planned Parenthood is fully capable of self-funding if it were to tap its own assets, according to its own annual report.
PP provides more abortions that any other organization in the United States, about one out of every four abortions, according the a recent report from the pro-life Chiaroscuro Foundation. To learn more about PP finances, you can read this very informative Defunding Planned Parenthood Fact Sheet. It will give you good, factual talking points to use with your Congressional Representatives.
You are probably aware that Congress recently passed another continuing resolution (CR) minus the Pence Amendment which de-funded Planned Parenthood and other pro-life provisions. In response, the “Women Speak Out: Defund Planned Parenthood” media tour (sponsored by the Susan B. Anthony List pro-life group) took to the highways. Its goal was to raise public awareness of this misuse of tax dollars and to expose U.S. Members of Congress who voted for continuing the PP funding through the CR. The tour also thanked Members of Congress who stood up for women, young girls and taxpayers with their votes for Rep. Mike Pence’s (R-IN) amendment to deny all taxpayer funding to Planned Parenthood through September and those who stood firm for the pro-life position by voting AGAINST the CR, which passed by a vote of 271-158 with 54 Republicans and 104 Democrats voting against the measure.
Chartering buses, this media tour covered more than 2,300 miles, ending its tour at the New Jersey PP abortion facility which was featured in the expose undercover video showing PP employees abetting sex trafficking and sexual abuse of young girls by older men. Though PP chartered its own buses and followed the pro-life route, at every stop, more pro-life than pro-PP supporters turned out. It’s clear that the Grassroots are against their tax dollars going to Planned Parenthood.
Yet the Republican House Leadership continues to try and “appease” the Democrat-controlled Senate by removing any de-funding of abortion providers. The next CR vote comes up on or before April 8, and Republicans MUST restore the PP de-funding and make the Democrat Senators debate and vote on it! It’s time to stand up and be counted for life, House Members! The GOP budget cuts will never please the Democrat Senate, so Republicans should keep their pro-life promises and put the Democrats on the defense! Pass the CR with the Pence Amendment!
ACTION: It is critical that your Congressional Representative hear from you THIS WEEK while he/she is home. Please phone their district offices to find out about any Town Hall meetings which may be scheduled and try to attend to raise the question of why Planned Parenthood should continue to get our tax dollars. Or leave a polite but firm message for the Representative.
Additionally, please contact the offices of Speaker of the House John Boehner and Majority Leader Eric Cantor to voice your feelings on the PP funding in the CR, and you may wish to fax them as well. They must be encouraged to grow some backbone and stand up for Life to the Democrats!
Adult Stem Cells Used In Yet
Another Successful Treatment
The disease is, in fact, so rare that it now bears the tiny patient’s name: Winslet’s Disease. Problems were first diagnosed six weeks before the baby’s due date: low hemoglobin, severe anemia, jaundice and enlarged liver and spleen which were shutting down. These complications required an emergency C-section. Then even more severe problems came to light. She wasn’t producing her own blood.
Prior to the adult stem cell transplant, the baby required transfusions every few weeks, so the decision was made to seek a transplant. Through an umbilical cord blood bank, a match was found almost immediately. Following the adult stem cell transplant, the toddler has made a remarkable recovery and, for the first time since her birth, is able to leave the hospital. In the nearly six weeks since the procedure, the toddler has stable blood counts on her hemoglobin, white cells and platelets. Doctors give her great expectations of leading a normal life, though she visits a clinic three times a week for now.
Many people don’t realize that umbilical cord blood yields adult stem cells, and this success story will help to spread the word that there have been many, many successful treatments of a variety of illnesses through adult stem cells and NONE from embryonic stem cells. So why are some still stubbornly clinging to a research path that is futile?
