Actual Fetal Tissue (Not Stem Cells) Used
In Food Processing, Other Experiments

ExperimentsAs more and more information comes to light concerning the use of fetal tissue from aborted babies in food processing, an Oklahoma State Senator is taking action. Sen. Ralph Shortey (R – Oklahoma City) has recently introduced legislation that will prohibit “the sale or manufacture of food or products which contain aborted human fetuses,” or which “used aborted human fetuses in the research or development of any of the ingredients.” Sen. Shortey explains that he authored Senate Bill 1418 because, “There is a potential that there are companies that are using aborted human babies in their research and development of basically enhancing flavor for artificial flavors.”

Naturally, this legislation brought about outraged denials, but according to LifeSiteNews.com, certain patent documents reveal that fetal cell lines from an electively aborted child are being used in the development of flavor enhancers produced by a company called Senomyx although the cells themselves do not end up in the final product. Among customers who use Senomyx’s flavor enhancer are companies such as Nestle and Pepsi Cola. Campbell’s Soup has dropped its contract with Senomyx.

In U.S. Patent number 7,297,543, Senomyx states: “The invention provides a preferred mammalian cell lines, e.g., HEK-293 cells that stably express T1R2/T1R3 and G.sub..alpha.15 under inducible conditions. These cells are useful in cell-based assays for identifying compounds that elicit or modulate sweet taste.”

Meanwhile, in another ghoulish press announcement, research firm StemCells, Inc. calls its use of the brains from babies killed in abortions “truly unique” in its research. (In its news release announcing the clinical trial, StemCells, Inc. was careful to refer to the fetal brain material as “purified human neural stem cell product” or HuCNS-SC cells, rather than “fresh human fetal brain tissue,” a description which can be found elsewhere on its website.)

Scott Fischbach, the director of Minnesota Citizens Concerned for Life has uncovered the information showing a clinical trial approved by the Food and Drug Administration uses brain tissue from aborted unborn babies to treat macular degeneration. StemCells, Inc. will inject fetal brain stem cells into the eyes of up to 16 patients to study the cells’ effect on vision.

“StemCells, Inc. is not using embryonic stem cells. A five-day-old human being at the embryonic stage does not have a brain, but a fetus at 10 or 20 weeks of development with visible fingers, toes and ears has a functioning brain,” said Fischbach. “Developing human beings in the womb are treated simply as raw material for laboratory experimentation by StemCells, Inc. and other companies seeking to monetize aborted unborn children.” Read the complete story here.

March is Trisomy 18 Awareness Month

Rick Santorum with his daughter Bella, a Trisomy 18 child. Many people believe that a special needs child doesn’t deserve the right to life. However, pro-lifers know that all life is sacred and must be protected. March is Trisomy 18 Awareness Month. Sen. Rick Santorum is shown above with his daughter Bella, a Trisomy 18 child. Trisomy 18 is a genetic disorder in which a person has a third copy of material from chromosome 18, instead of the usual two copies. Likewise, Trisomy 13 is a similar disorder in which a person has a third copy of the 13th chromosome. For more information, click here. World Down Syndrome Day also is celebrated this month. In the US, 90% of the babies diagnosed with Down Syndrome are aborted. For more information on support groups for Down Syndrome, click here.

Expose Planned ParenthoodAccording to 40 Days for Life Campaign director Shawn Carney, some Planned Parenthood centers are trying to counteract the Prayer Vigils by conducting a “pledge a picket” campaign. They ask PP supporters to pledge money for each “picketer” on their sidewalk. This tactic clearly indicates that the prayer vigils are working. In fact, Carney reports at least five abortuary workers have quit their jobs during this Spring’s 40 Days for Life!

Carney further reports that PP’s major talking point — that abortion is only 3% of their total services — is false! “This creative use of statistics understates the importance of abortion to the bottom line. It treats birth control prescriptions, HIV tests and abortion as equal when counting the number of services,” Carney says. “Researchers who’ve studied Planned Parenthood’s own reports estimate that abortion accounts for 40 to 50 percent of total clinic income. This is why Planned Parenthood is so protective of abortion — and trying relentlessly to increase the numbers.”
