Hilltoppers for Life, a small but dedicated pro-life group at Western Kentucky University, had conducted a successful Life Week which culminated in a striking visual presentation. With the university’s permission, the students erected a display of some 3,700 crosses on the bleachers of the school’s old football stadium. Because of vandalism to pro-life displays at other nearby schools, the Hilltoppers for Life decided to stand guard over the display. According to Fox News, their instincts were correct as club president John Sohl reported that the vandals were “. . . putting condoms on every single cross in our display.” The Cemetery of the Innocents, as it was named by the students, represented the 3,700 pre-born babies killed each day in America.
The vandals were fellow students who claimed that by draping condoms on the crosses, they were merely completing an “art project” which their art teacher had approved in advance!
Naturally, the campus police were summoned, but did nothing to stop the desecration, citing First Amendment concerns and that draping the condoms on the crosses wasn’t really vandalism. For full details, click here.
Contrary to those who think that less than “perfect” children should be aborted rather than given their right to life, this spunky seven-year-old Pennsylvania girl, Annie Clark, is “an amazing little girl” according to her father, Tom Clark. Annie’s parents have nine children, including six who were adopted from China. Annie and three of her adopted siblings have disabilities affecting their hands or arms. Most of us think of midwives as women who assist in the birth process, but if Planned Parenthood, NARAL and the ACLU have their way, California will allow non-physicians such as midwives and physician assistants to perform abortions, including using the suction method of killing the pre-born child.
Democrat pro-abortion Senator Christine Kehoe has introduced SB 1338 which will, if enacted, provide for abortion training of non-physician personnel pursuant to the Health Workforce Pilot Project #171. Suspiciously, this HWPP project is being funded to the tune of $3.5 million by a non-disclosed private foundation. Supporters of the legislation and the training project include Planned Parenthood Affiliates of California, the American Civil Liberties Union of California, ACCESS Women’s Health Justice, NARAL Pro-Choice California and California Latinas for Reproductive Justice.
According to the ACLU of Northern California, dozens of people have already been trained as part of a multi-year pilot project conducted by the University of California, San Francisco at numerous health centers across the state. Concerned that this training may be provided by physicians who themselves may be under investigation for sub-standard care, the Life Legal Defense Foundation (LLDF), using the California Public Records Act, requested information to learn the names of the doctors performing the training and those already trained. That request was denied and the LLDF has filed a Writ of Mandate to compel disclosure of the requested information.
Life-affirming physicians are also concerned that these non-physician abortionists would be unable to deal with complications which could pose grave risks to women undergoing the abortions. Read more here.
As the bill makes its way through the Democrat-controlled California legislature, Dana Cody, Executive Director of Life Legal Defense Foundation cautions, “By eliminating the physician from the abortion procedure, a woman will get less medical counseling than undergoing plastic surgery.”
Many states are in the process of selecting their delegates to the Republican National Convention in Tampa. When those delegates are chosen in YOUR state, it’s important that strong pro-lifers be elected so that we can continue to keep the GOP “the Party of Life” by protecting the sanctity of innocent life throughout the entire life spectrum. There are always those at the National Convention who try to weaken — or even eliminate — the pro-life, pro-family planks and RNC for Life has been on the front lines of that battle for the last twenty years. We will be there again in August, and ask that you partner with us in this effort by making your most generous contribution towards that goal. Click here to help us protect the pro-life plank. Thank you for your help both with delegates and financial support!
