Ending weeks of speculation as to who would be Gov. Mitt Romney’s vice presidential choice, Saturday’s announcement of Congressman Paul Ryan of Wisconsin has been welcomed by most conservatives. Certainly from a Life standpoint, Cong. Ryan is a winner for us. Although he is best known as a fiscal conservative whose expertise is well-known and respected in D.C., Cong. Ryan also has a 100% pro-life voting record during his seven terms in Congress.
The choices couldn’t be more clear for November and nowhere are the differences in the Democrats and the GOP candidates more defined than in the areas of Life and Marriage. Those two areas are ones that RNC for Life is prepared to defend in the Republican Platform Committee meetings against those who want to weaken the GOP stances and planks. We leave Sunday for Tampa to monitor the proceedings of the Platform Committee, and offer substitute language where needed.
Being in Tampa for a full week prior to the Convention as well as the week of the actual Convention is a huge expense as Phyllis, John, Dianne, plus Colleen and Glyn from the Eagle Forum D.C. office will all be a part of the pro-life team intent on protecting the planks. If you can help us with a donation to help offset those expenses, please click here.
If you are in the market for any computers or computer-related peripherals, you probably can get a really good deal and at the same time, support a life-affirming pregnancy center. Laptops for Life is a project of Loreto House in Denton, Texas and is an authorized business partner for Lenovo, Asus and Dell, with plans for further expansion of the available lines of computers that it offers. As the only pro-life computer outlet in the USA, it offers pro-lifers the opportunity to support the pro-life cause as computer needs are met, and their website shows hundreds of options to satisfy your computer needs. You can check out their inventory on this website: http://laptopsforlife.com.
As is our long-standing tradition, RNC for Life will be throwing the most fun non-convention event on Tuesday of the Republican National Convention in Tampa. Not a fundraiser, the event is always a celebration of our success in keeping the pro-life Platform plank intact. We are confident that we will succeed once more in doing that this year, as we will have our full forces there to monitor the Platform Committee meetings.
This year, we are partnering officially with the Family Research Council Action and the Florida Family Policy Council as we honor some pro-life heroes: Gov. Rick Perry, Sen. Rick Santorum, and Congressional Representatives Michele Bachmann and Louie Gohmert, all of whom are staunch advocates for the sanctity of life. If you are going to be in the Tampa area during the Convention week, we’d love to have you join us for our “Treasure Life” event. Get full details here.
(Because of the Platform Committee meetings next week and then the Convention during the following week, E-Notes may not be sent out. But we will resume our weekly updates right after the Labor Day weekend.)
