House to Vote on Cloning BanH.R. 534, sponsored by pro-life Representatives Curt Weldon (R-PA) and Bart Stupak (D-MI), is expected to be voted on Thursday, February 27th.
Vote Scheduled for Thursday, February 27, 2003
Known as the Weldon/Stupak bill, its official name is The Human Cloning Prohibition Act. It would prohibit the making of human embryos through cloning.
An opposing bill, sponsored by pro-abortion RINO (Republican in Name Only) Jim Greenwood (R-PA), will also be offered. This bill would allow the making of cloned human embryos as long as they are used for scientific experiments and as long as they are killed in the process.
Please bear in mind that, if an embryonic human being is ever made through somatic cell nuclear transfer (cloning), reproduction would have occurred. Not through conception or fertilization, the natural union of male sperm with female egg - since no sperm is involved, but through an unnatural, asexual process in which electrical stimulation is used to initiate cell division in an egg into which the DNA of the person to be “duplicated” has been inserted. The resulting embryo would be a human being whom Mr. Greenwood and others think should be “used” for the “advancement” of science and the “benefit” of mankind.
On the contrary, such total disregard for the sanctity of human life - the idea that people should be made, like a product, and used by others for whatever purpose - is so repugnant that it’s amazing to find such thinking among members of a civilized society!
