News Conference on Unborn Child Pain Awareness Act Today U.S. Senator Sam Brownback (R-KS), a pro-life champion, will hold a news conference today to discuss the Unborn Child Pain Awareness Act, legislation he has introduced that will require abortion providers to notify a mother who is seeking an abortion 20 weeks after fertilization of the growing medical evidence that the unborn child in her womb can feel severe and extreme pain during an abortion procedure. The bill provides that the mother be offered anesthesia for her unborn baby if she goes through with the abortion despite information that her baby will feel excruciating pain. The legislation has over 30 original cosponsors, several of whom will participate in the news conference, including Senators Jim Talent (R-MO), Tom Coburn (R-OK), John Thune (R-SD), and Representative Chris Smith (R-NJ). A recent Wirthlin Worldwide poll (November 4, 2004) found that 75% of respondents agreed that women who are 20 weeks or more along in their pregnancy should be given information about fetal pain before having an abortion. Buffalo pro-lifers of all religious persuasions are outraged that a Catholic college would provide a forum to Mrs. Clinton, an ardent and outspoken supporter of abortion-on-demand. The Corporal Works of Mercy are feeding the hungry, clothing the naked, sheltering the homeless, visiting the sick and imprisoned and burying the dead. Senator Clinton certainly shows no mercy toward the millions of babies who continue to be killed prior to birth in this country. Alumni of Jesuit institutions who wish to voice their opinions can call the President of Canisius College, Father Vincent Cook, at 716/888-2100.
"But then she caused the crowd to grow restive by urging a new effort to find "common ground" in the abortion debate and added that abortion is a ‘sad, even tragic, choice to many, many women.’ She went on to praise ‘religious and moral values’ for getting teenagers to delay becoming ‘sexually active.’" Mr. Bauer pointed out that, "The Clintons know the democrats’ association with one million aborted babies every year is deeply hurting their party. Ironically, they may understand that fact better than some Republican establishment types. Does anyone have any doubts that Hillary will run for president in 2008? By then she will look like a ‘centrist’ unless the Republican Party confronts her early and often."
