ALERT - ALERT - ALERT |
H.R. 810, the Stem Cell Research Enhancement Act of 2005, is expected to be voted on in the House of Representatives very soon.
PLEASE ACT ON THIS IMMEDIATELY BECAUSE WE DON'T KNOW EXACTLY WHEN THE VOTE WILL OCCUR.
This bill would force us, the taxpayers, to fund experiments that kill human embryos!
The science is fundamental. A human embryo is a human being at the earliest stage of development. Human embryos deserve respect and protection under the law.
H.R. 810 would allow the parents of embryonic babies who are "left over" from fertility treatments in in vitro fertilization clinics, to "donate" their children for medical experiments in which they would be killed at taxpayers expense!
At last count, 155 Members of Congress, mostly Democrats, had co-sponsored this piece of legislation, a bill that would have been unthinkable just a few short years ago.
Currently, the Bush administration allows federal funding of embryonic stem cell experiments as long as the embryos in question were killed prior to August 9, 2001. It prohibits taxpayer funding of experiments involving the killing of human embryos after that date.
That policy is bad enough! It opened the door a crack and now utilitarian forces backed by big money from the biotech industry, want to push it wide open.
THE DOOR SHOULD BE CLOSED, NOT OPENED WIDER.
PLEASE CALL YOUR MEMBER OF CONGRESS RIGHT NOW AND SAY THIS:
"PLEASE VOTE NO ON H.R. 810. A MEMBER OF CONGRESS WHO VOTES FOR KILLING HUMAN EMBRYOS CAN NEVER AGAIN BE CONSIDERED PRO-LIFE.
WHAT WE NEED IS A TOTAL BAN ON EXPERIMENTS THAT INVOLVE THE KILLING OF HUMAN EMBRYOS, REGARDLESS OF HOW THEY ARE FUNDED."
If H.R. 810 should pass, we have been assured that President Bush will veto it. HOWEVER, WE MUST BE SURE THAT THE VOTES ARE THERE TO SUSTAIN A VETO!
Below is a list of U.S. Representatives who usually vote pro-life and need to hear from you. They are listed by state and district. Democrats are in italics.
PLEASE CALL NOW. ASK YOUR FAMILY MEMBERS AND FRIENDS TO DO SO AS WELL. IF WE CAN'T PROTECT THE TINIEST MEMBERS OF THE HUMAN FAMILY, WHO CAN WE PROTECT?
