Recent news reports have referred to certain "Catholic" individuals or groups who are supporting Obama. Lest people be confused by these reports, we remind you that the Catholic Church teaches that abortion is an "unspeakable crime."
Furthermore, The Catholic Church teaches that,
"Since the first century the Church has affirmed the moral evil of every procured abortion. This teaching has not changed and remains unchangeable."
"Direct abortion, that is to say, abortion willed either as an end or a means, is gravely contrary to the moral law."
"Formal cooperation in an abortion constitutes a grave offense. The Church attaches the canonical penalty of excommunication to this crime against human life."
"A person who procures a completed abortion incurs excommunication latae sententiae, by the very commission of the offense."
"The inalienable right to life of every innocent human individual is a constitutive element of a civil society and its legislation."
(Catechism of the Catholic Church, No. 2270 - 2273)
People who call themselves "Catholics" for Obama haven't checked in with the Vatican lately. It's an oxymoron. You can't be a faithful Catholic and support Barack Obama or any other politician who shares his views. To do so is to engage in "formal cooperation" with abortion. Those people are dissenters from the teaching of the Catholic Church.
Perhaps they can pull the wool over some eyes, but we don't have to let them get away with it. Please circulate this information widely.
