Republican Party Remains Pro-Life,
Marriage Needs Protection
RNC for Life becomes RNC for Life & Marriage
January 21, 2014 – The Republican National Coalition for Life (RNC for Life) is pleased to commend the Republican National Committee for its commitment to life and for attending the 2014 March for Life in Washington, D.C.
“The Republican platform has been pro-life since Roe v. Wade but every four years at the national convention a small contingent of pro-abortion activists tries to remove the pro-life plank in the Republican national platform. They have been unsuccessful every time.” said Phyllis Schlafly. “By delaying the upcoming Republican National Committee meeting so that members can attend the March for Life in Washington, D.C., RNC leadership is recognizing what RNC for Life and Republicans across the nation have been saying for years: the Republican Party is and should always be a pro-life party!”
In addition, RNC for Life announces that it is expanding its focus from protecting the pro-life position of the Republican Party to fighting to keep the Republican party a pro-traditional marriage political party. This expansion, coupled with a name change to RNC for Life & Marriage will allow grassroots voters to have their voices heard within the Republican Party.
RNC for Life & Marriage is also pleased to announce that Ed Martin, a Republican National Committee member and Chairman of the Missouri Republican Party has agreed to serve as the Director of RNC for Life & Marriage. Ed has a long-standing record of fighting for life and families including serving as an assistant to Pope John Paul II at the 1997 Synod of Bishops, directing the Human Rights Office of the Archdiocese of St. Louis, and leading pro-life citizens in their lawsuit against Governor Rod Blagojevich while Ed was the McGivney Fellow for Rights of Conscience at Americans United for Life.
“We must never stop our fight for life and for keeping our Republican Party pro-life,” said Ed Martin. “However, the same forces who fight for anti-life policies are attacking and undermining marriage. The Republican National Committee and its platform are committed to life but it is also committed to traditional marriage. We will never yield on core principles — no matter what!”
RNC for Life & Marriage is a national grassroots organization focused on maintaining the pro-life commitment of Republicans. For more, contact Ed at [email protected] or call (314) 606-6462.
