RNC/LIFE PAC REPORT — 2010 Republican Candidates

Republican National Coalition for Life PAC supports Republican candidates who are pro-life without discrimination and who will work to translate Republican pro-life platform principles into public policy and law. For your information, we have listed the Republican Congressional Candidates whose responses to the RNC/Life Questionnaire indicate they are faithfully pro-life, and do not justify abortion for innocent babies who are conceived through rape or incest, have a handicap, or a genetic defect.
Politicians who justify the deliberate killing of an unborn baby hold a view that is inconsistent with the goal of the pro-life movement and the Republican National Platform which states in part: "The unborn child has a fundamental individual right to life which cannot be infringed." We concentrated on the House candidates in 2010 because of the sheer number of Republican candidates. Not every candidate returned our questionnaire and lack of a listing on our candidate page does not indicate that the candidate is pro-choice, merely that he/she did not return a questionnaire. A few U.S. Senate candidates are also listed, who sought us out as pro-life Republicans.
Before we donate PAC funds to a candidate, we also check the viability of a campaign. For instance, does the candidate have a strong campaign organization? Has he or she raised sufficient funds? Is the candidate credible and respected in the community? What are the candidate's polls and trends showing?
Hundreds of candidates are running for Congress — more than 400 Republicans in 2010! We can tell you how they stand on the right to life. The rest is up to you to help get them elected.

This list is compiled from the questionnaires returned to RNC for Life. Not all GOP candidates returned the questionnaire, and omission from this list does not imply any particular position on the Life issues.

Candidates Ratings Based on Responses to the RNC/Life Candidate Questionnaire

KEY

Pro-life without discrimination
Does not accept the scientific fact that a human being comes into existence at conception.
Does not believe that all innocent human beings, from conception until natural death, at every stage of development, deserve legal protection.
Thinks a mother should have the legal right to an abortion if her baby
1. was conceived through rape or incest;
2. has a handicap;
3. has a genetic defect;
4. may threaten the health of the mother.
Disagrees with the Republican National Platform Pro-Life Plank in the following ways:
1. Opposes a Human Life Amendment to the Constitution;
2. Opposes extension of 14th Amendment protection to the unborn;
3. Opposes appointment of pro-life judges;
4. Does not oppose using public revenues for abortion or organizations that advocate it;
5. Does not oppose euthanasia;
6. Does not oppose assisted suicide.
Opposes re-adoption of the pro-life plank in the Republican National Platform.
Does not think Roe v. Wade should be overturned.
Will not work and vote for laws and public policies founded on the pro-life Republican National Platform plank.
Will not vote to ban
1. publicly funded killing of human embryos.
2. Privately funded killing of human embryos.
Will not vote to ban
1. publicly funded efforts to clone human beings.
2. Privately funded efforts to clone human beings.
Will not vote to exclude abortion coverage in any universal, mandatory, or taxpayer-subsidized health care plan.
Will not vote against taxpayer funding of surgical abortions and abortion-causing drugs like RU-486 and the "morning after" pill.
Will not vote for a ban on the use of baby body parts (fetal tissue) taken from the victims of abortion for experimentation or scientific research.
Will not vote to make it a crime for any adult (other than a parent) to transport a minor across state lines to have an abortion if the intent is to circumvent parental involvement laws in the state where the minor resides.
Will not vote to deny taxpayer funding to organizations such as Planned Parenthood that promote, perform, counsel or refer for abortions.
Will not vote against the Equal Rights Amendment (Women's Equality Amendment) which would prohibit states from regulating, restricting or prohibiting the practice of abortion.
